Dissertation Practical Investigation

For my dissertation I investigated the influence of Kitsch on contemporary fashion and textile design, and how it is relevant to new Maximalist trends. The research was carried through into a  practical project. This project continued my interest in nostalgic trend revivals, clashing patterns and hybridity within textile design.

I focused on taking simple prints using, innovative ways to recreate and exaggerate - Inspired by Chanel's famous quote: "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove at least one accessory". I wanted to challenge this Minimalist approach, I simply kept on adding!

Embellishment and innovative embroidery have become key processes in my current work, influenced by the experience and knowledge gained during a 3-month internship at Mary Katrantzou. Moving onto my Final Major Project, I hope to continue the ideas and concepts researched in this project.
